Overview
Apollo sits in front of a company’s ERP and gives B2B buyers a quick way to place a repeat order. The idea came from a talk with the owner of a B2B commerce agency in Kelowna about the problems he sees again and again: stale stock numbers, pricing that depends on the account, buyers who reorder instead of browsing, and unhelpful ERP error messages. Buyers can paste SKUs, a PO number, or a messy product list into one box, and Apollo turns it into a priced cart. Plain code handles pricing, stock, and account rules, while Claude handles the messy input that needs judgment.
What I learned
I learned how to split work between plain code and an LLM: anything with one right answer stays in code, and Claude only handles ambiguity. Validating Claude’s output with Zod, keeping it at temperature 0, and limiting tool-call rounds made the AI parts predictable. I also learned to design for failure, with clear messages when a stock check times out or a SKU doesn’t match.
Looking back
Next I’d connect Apollo to a real ERP. Because all data already goes through one adapter, the rest of the app wouldn’t need to change.
